After doing super well for the South African team in all three formats of the game, Ryan Rickelton has finally gotten a chance to play in the IPL as well, and yes, it is none other than the Mumbai Indians that bought him this year. So if you’re seeing him play for the very first time in the 18th season of the IPL, then let’s get to know him here.

Professional Life and IPL Career
Ryan’s career in South African domestic cricket started with Gauteng in 2015. Subsequently, he moved to the Lions and consistently proved his worth by scoring runs, BIG runs actually. He was capped for South Africa in Test cricket for the first time on March 31, 2022, and in ODIs much later, on March 18, 2023. His T20 International debut came in May 2024. As a left-hander, he is a wicketkeeper-batter who is known for powerful hits and good glovework.
Mumbai Indians signed him at the IPL 2025 auction for ₹1 crore. In April 2025, he debuted in the IPL and very quickly made his mark. He crossed the 300-run mark in the season, registering three half-centuries. Quickfire 58 off 32 balls against Lucknow Super Giants and 61 off 38 against Rajasthan Royals were crucial in helping his team clinch those big wins. At the end of the season, he was the second-highest run-scorer for the Mumbai Indians and is likely to remain an important player for the team.
