Purple and Orange Cap Winner in IPL 2025

The 18th season of the Indian Premier League is over now, and finally, we have got the winner as the Royal Challengers Bangalore. They won the trophy after trying for 17 years straight, and this was an emotional moment for all the fans of the team. And to be honest, it was one of the most memorable seasons because we got to see some new players really catch the limelight, and sure enough, this season, we saw some really great cricket action. Just like every single year, the race for the purple and orange cap was a neck-to-neck one. But this year, both the purple cap and the orange cap were won by one team’s player, and yes, we’re talking about the Gujarat Titans. So, let’s talk about their journey through this season of the IPL and what was super special. Here we go then.

Purple Cap Winner in IPL 2025: Prasidh Krishna (Gujarat Titans)

Prasidh Krishna

Even though the Gujarat Titans didn’t make it to the finals of this season of the IPL, without a single doubt, the efforts of bowlers like Prasidh Krishan led them to the play-off. With 25 wickets in hand, he was awarded the Purple Cap winner in IPL 2025, and that was his first time winning this award. Though he was close to winning the purple cap back in IPL 2022 as well, but somehow just missed it. After the IPL 2022, he actually didn’t play the next two seasons, so the IPL 2025 really was his comeback season, and boy, what a comeback he made.

In this season of the IPL, he quite literally was the main pace bowling option for the Gujarat Titans team, and he was one of the reasons why his team kept on winning the crucial matches in the league phase, one after the other. And sure enough, because of his phenomenal performance in the IPL, he has been picked up in the India Test team for the England tour that will start from 20th June 2025. Though, for those who don’t know yet, he has already made his debut for the national team in all three formats of the game, but now, it appears like he’ll get more chances to prove himself.

Orange Cap Winner in IPL 2025: Sai Sudharsan (Gujarat Titans)

Sai Sudharshan

750+ runs in just one season of IPL? Well, yes, that’s something only a few legendary players have done in the history of IPL, and seeing a youngster achieve such a thing is just pure joy for a cricket lover. If you wanted to see a class player in the IPL, then it was Sai Sudharsan who was showing his class in every single match. Like, in just 15 matches, he ended up with 759 runs to his name with a 54.21 average and a 156+ strike rate. Not to mention the fact that he hit 6 50+ scores as well as 1 century. And we all remember how he, along with his opening partner in his team, Shubhman Gill, chased down a 200+ score without even giving away a single wicket. That was something we IPL fans never saw before.

But it was not his first time putting on big runs for his team on the scoreboard and being in the orange cap list, nah, he has done it before. Like, just in the last season of IPL, he already hit 500+ runs and was one of the highest run scorers for the Gujarat Titans. It is this consistent performance of his that has pretty much ensured that he will make his Test debut for India in the upcoming England tour. That’s official because he is picked up by the BCCI for the main team.
