Rizvi is a right handed batsman and his main strength is playing aggressive shots and calm attitude on the field. He has impressed both fans and selectors with his confident batting and steady performance. Often called the right handed “Suresh Raina” on social media he has impressed everybody with his attacking batting mainly against spin bowling.

Early Life and Background
Sameer was born in Uttar Pradesh and started playing cricket at the age of 11. He was trained at Gandhibagh Academy in Meerut under the guidance of his maternal uncle Tankeeb Akhtar, who inspired him to take cricket seriously. Interestingly he was criticized from his family for distracting him from studies. At the age of 8 he impressed Suresh Raina during a match with his fielding effort. Raina then gifted him a sun glass recognizing his potential. Despite late focus on studies he completed his class 10 exam. After the age of 20 Sameer stepped up as the family’s main earner after his father suffered a brain hemorrhage in 2020.
Cricket Career
Sameer made his first class career debut for Uttar Pradesh in January 2020 at just 16 years old. He made his list A debut in December 2021 during Vijay Hazare Trophy. In the 2023 Up T20 league he scored 455 runs in 9 innings which includes two centuries. He scored tournament’s fastest century in 47 balls.
IPL Journey and Facts
In December 2023 CSk bought Sameer for a stunning 8.4 crore rupees at the IPL 2024 auction making him the most expensive uncapped player for that’ season. He made headlines when he hit his very first ball for a six which was bowled by Rashid khan.
However his overall IPL performance was modest, he scored just 51 runs in 8 innings, for that reason CSK didn’t retain him for 2025 season. However DC picked him for RS95 lakhs giving him another chance to prove his talent.
