Professional Life And IPL Story

Stoinis started his state-level career for Western Australia in the 2008-09 season. He moved to Victoria in 2012 and soon joined the Perth Scorchers to play in the Big Bash League. After a year, he signed a contract with the Melbourne Stars and was named captain for the next BBL campaign (2024-25) after some phenomenal seasons. Internationally, he made his T20I debut for Australia on 31st August in 2015 against England and made his first ODI debut on 11th September 2015. Then, for the next ten years, he went on to play around 70 ODIs and about 60 T20Is, including being part of the Australia teams that won the 2021 T20 World Cup and the 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup.

Marcus Stoinis entered the Indian Premier League in 2016 as Kings XI Punjab bought him for ₹55 lakh. From 2018, he was associated with Punjab until 2019, played with Royal Challengers Bangalore, and then played two seasons (2020-21) with Delhi Capitals. He has been part of Lucknow Super Giants from 2022 to 2024, making ₹9.2 crore every season and delivering key performances with both bat and ball. During the 2025 mega auction, Punjab Kings reprised him for ₹11 crore. Currently, he has played over 100 IPL matches in which he has nearly 2000 runs and over 40 wickets, making him one of the most reliable all-around players in the league.
