Karun Nair

Although Karun was born in Jodhpur, he was brought up in Bangalore where he began his cricketing journey. He comes from a Malayali family and grew up watching cricket passionately.

In 2016 Karun had a scary life experience when a boat he was in capsized during a temple festival in Kerala. He didn’t know how to swim but was saved by locals, a true miracle moment in his life.

Career

Karun made a solid mark in domestic cricket with Karnataka. His first Ranji trophy season 2013-2014 was amazing.  He scored centuries in three big matches and even ended the final by hitting a six. That season Karnataka lifted the Ranji trophy after 15 years. His consistent performance earned him a place in the Indian Team. He made his ODI debut in July 2016 and Test debut in November 2016. Just a month later he smashed 303 against England becoming only 3rd player in history to convert a maiden test hundred into a triple ton.

IPL Journey

Karun’s IPL career began in 2014 with Rajasthan Royals where he often opened alongside Shane Watson. His impressive run continued with Delhi Daredevils in 2016, where he was bought for a whopping ₹4crore.  That season he played a crucial role at the top of the order. Over the years he also played for Kings XI Punjab, Kolkata Knight Riders and currently RCB. Although not a consistent IPL star his calm presence and batting technique always kept him in demand.  This year DC acquired him for ₹50 lakhs.
